‘Kaapa’ Twitter review: Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shaji Kailas deliver an impressive gangster drama

‘Kaapa’ based on G R Indugopan’s story has hit the cinemas today (Dec 22). Helmed by Shaji Kailas, the film has Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role, while actors Aparna Balamurali, Asif Ali, and Anna Ben have roped in to play some pivotal roles in the film. The film has opened to packed theatres, and the Twitter is flooded with reviews from movie buffs.
Prithviraj Sukumaran plays Kotta Madhu, a local gangster in the film, and seems like the star’s reunion with filmmaker Shaji Kailas (after ‘Kaduva’) has managed to impress the cinegoers. A Twitter user noted that Shaji Kailas approached the film in a unique style. “#Kaapa Shaji Kailas done a Gangster Drama class & mass approach ???? @PrithviOfficial Intro was ???????? Asif Ali suffering And emotional Scenes were nice @Aparnabala2 Done a great job ???? A different plot executed well,” the tweet read.

Another movie buff said that the film is worth the watch. “#KAAPA - Another superb comeback from #ShajiKailas. Well executed Gangster Drama, pure class stuff???? Great performances across the board @PrithviOfficial, @Aparnabala2, #AsifAli, Superb fights, BGM And camera work. Go for it ????,” the tweet read.

A netizen said that the film was a ‘serious gangster drama’, “#Kaapa - is a serious gangster drama that's shot & executed as a class one rather than a mass action one. @PrithviOfficial, @Aparnabala2, #Asifali were neat were Jagadeesh outperformed the whole with his stellar perfomance???????? Shaji's new making style works and is worth a watch!”

A few netizens were of the opinion that the film was neither OTT, nor underwhelming. A Twitter user wrote, “#Kaapa: After introducing the characters and the plot in an okay first half, the film ups the ante in the second with strong conflict points and emotional locks between the characters. Don't expect anything massy but as a serious gangster drama it works. Jomon's cinematography is a plus and action blocks are neatly executed. Background scores good. Overall it has an Okay first half and good second half with strong performances. Shaji Kailas is more focused in his this innings and has got out the best out of his actors. Few dramatic scenes are captured very well. Hopefully he carries it in his upcoming films as well.”

Meanwhile, fans of Prithviraj Sukumaran are thrilled that they get to enjoy the star's film during this Christmas season.
